What is a Kimble Gun?

A Kimble gun, or tagging gun, is a handheld tool used to attach tags, labels, or fastening loops to clothes and other items. It works by inserting plastic fasteners or loops through fabric or product packaging. Retail stores use these guns to securely attach prices, barcodes, or product details to items.

Users employ Kimble guns with various accessories, including nylon tags, loop fasteners, and replacement needles. This makes them versatile for different types of tagging tasks. These helpful tools make it easy to label items. This is especially true in busy retail environments.

Tag Guns & Kimble Tags

Choosing the Right Tagging Gun

For general tagging needs, a Standard Clothing Tag Gun paired with Polypropylene Kimble Tags is a good choice. These tags are durable and work well for most items, from clothing to accessories. For delicate items like soft furnishings or delicate materials, the Fine Fabric Tagging Gun helps prevent damage. It uses thinner needles that lower the risk of tearing.

To tag items without damaging the material, use the Secure-A-Tach Loop Tagging Gun (V-Tool). It works well on products with holes or loops. It uses loops or hand-secured fasteners, making it perfect for items like bags or shoes, where piercing may not be desirable. Additionally, you can use Kimble Hook Attachments or Nylon Loop Fasteners to attach tags seamlessly to certain items.

When picking the right Kimble gun, customers usually think about the materials they will tag. They also consider the types of tags or fasteners required. For high-volume tagging, use accessories like heavy-duty Kimble gun needles. Understanding the items’ needs ensures that retailers choose the most efficient and suitable tool for their tagging tasks.

What Are Kimble Tags?

We produce each tag from polypropylene or nylon and come in large pack sizes ready for retail use. This strong plastic makes the tags hard to remove and tough to break. The most popular colour is clear/natural, but we can also supply a wide range of other colours, including black and red.

Although most would assume apparel tagging gun tags are inefficient, we also have a range of eco-friendly attachments. We make these attachments from recycled polyethene terephthalate (rPET), mainly from recycled bottles. In addition, they contain at least 90% post-consumer waste. Please note that you can only use standard tagging guns with these tags.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Use a Kimble Gun for Tagging Clothes

Follow this simple guide to quickly and safely use a Kimble gun for tagging clothes:

Prepare Your Kimble Gun: If this is your first time using the gun or if it’s been stored for a while, check that all parts are in good working order. Ensure the Kimble gun feels sturdy and clean.

Insert the Needle: Locate the needle holder at the front of the Kimble gun. Slide the needle into the holder with the sharp end pointing outward. Most guns have a small groove or slot to guide the needle into place. Push the needle in gently and tighten the locking mechanism on the side to secure.

Load the Kimble Tags (Fasteners): Take a strip of Kimble tags (plastic fasteners) and insert the T-shaped ends into the feed slot. Push them as far in as they can go; they should sit neatly in the gun. Check that the tags move freely and that you can eject one at a time.

Prepare Your Tickets or Labels: If you are attaching labels, price tags, or instructions, ensure they have a hole punched in them. This is where the fastener will go through.

Tag the Clothes: Align the hole in the ticket or tag with the needle of the gun. Push the needle through the part of the clothing where you want the tag to go. For lightweight fabrics, aim for seams or sturdy areas to avoid tearing.

Pull the Trigger: While holding the needle in place, gently squeeze the trigger of the gun. This action releases one plastic fastener from the strip in the gun. The fastener will pass through the tag and the clothing material, securing the tag in place.

Remove the Gun: Once you attach the tag, carefully pull the gun away. The needle should slide out without pulling on the fabric. Ensure that the tag stays securely in place and that the fabric remains undamaged.

Kimble Gun Starter Kits

If purchasing a Kimble gun for the first time, you may be interested in a Kimble Gun starter pack. This includes the tagging gun, replacement needles and tags supplied as one bundle.

Please note: You should take care when using a Kimble Gun as the needles are sharp. You should keep them out of the reach of children. To replace the needle, rotate the small lock on the side of the gun and release it. You can then simply (and carefully) remove it from the front.
